Rhode Home Rescue held a pet adoption event at Pet Supplies Plus in Garden City on Sept. 10. The Rescue specializes in rescuing dogs from unhealthy situations; be it kill shelters, incapable owners, and surrenders and finding them the “forever” homes they deserve. At Rhode Home, they believe that adopting a rescue not only saves them, but saves you.

“At Rhode Home Rescue, we believe that a healthy, well trained dog is the key to the successful integration of a rescued dog and ensures a wonderful, loving companion for years to come,” said Nadine McCaffrey (Dina) who is the Co-founder and President.

The Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose volunteers have many years of rescue experience. Their mission is to identify and rescue all types of dogs from overwhelmed euthanasia shelters and abusive situations and place them in secure, loving homes. It is a foster-based program, consisting of all volunteers.

There were approximately 12 dogs up for adoption and many went home that day with pre-approved applications with their new owners.

Prior to a Rhode Home Rescue dog being adopted, each dog undergoes an extensive examination by our veterinarians, including a comprehensive blood profile, is updated on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Health issues that require additional treatment, such as heartworms, surgery, etc., are addressed prior to adoption.

Rhode Home Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and 100 percent of donations and fees are used for the rescue and care of these dog.
