Posted

A Wish Come True will hold its first Heroes Walk/Run on Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at Warwick City Park on Steven O’Connor Boulevard.

The event is supported by Rhode Island Comic Con and will be emceed by Kristin Lessard and Steve Kelly from the B101 morning show.

“This superhero-themed event is going to be a fun, family-friendly event with something for everyone. Multiple Marvel characters will be in attendance for pictures,” said Mary-Kate O’Leary, executive director of A Wish Come True. “Funds raised during this event will be allocated toward our upcoming Wishes. There will be refreshments, food, games, and raffles for all throughout the event at our ‘Superhero Central.’”

Family, friends and support teams are invited to the event as the organization highlights its Wish Kids and their families as the superheroes they truly are while paying it forward to children and families needing hope.

“Eighty-three percent of our Wish Families stated they want A Wish Come True to provide opportunities to get together with other Wish Families,” O’Leary said. “We are excited to have Rhode Island Comic Con and iHeart Radio support us and we can’t wait to see everyone.”

Registration will be open from 9 to 10 a.m. and the walk/run will start at 10 a.m.

All participants and encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero and to form teams. There will be awards for the largest team, most creative team and for the highest amount of funds raised by an individual or a team.

All skills levels are welcome, and participants will walk or run at their own pace.
