To the Editor:
I was in Providence Saturday and noted the line of (I assume) homeless folks getting a meal from the back of an SUV and I also noted signs that some protesters were carrying that were calling for “no wall” and “no borders.”
Well, if these folks who want to have our borders open would leave their doors of their home open and leave food in the refrigerator, it would give our homeless folks a place to go. It would solve our homeless problem and maybe save the city money.
After all, if we don’t see a need to protect our borders, why would there be a need to protect our homes or restrict who comes to live there? Maybe they could even share their jobs so that the homeless folks could have some pride.

The concept of open borders or welcoming illegals is frightening. If we don't control the flow of immigrants and decide who comes in, we will fail to be a sovereign country.

Israel built a wall. In the year before it was constructed there were over a thousand suicide car bombings. In the year since the wall was built there were none. None.
If we build a wall on the Mexican border it will keep illegal immigrants out, not legal ones. What is wrong with that?
Davebarry109 is right. Welcoming illegals is frightening.

Dear Justanidiot,
The Berlin wall in Germany was built to keep people in. It wasn't built to keep people out. That's the difference.
Happy Easter old friend. Always great to hear from you.

A wall on our Sourhern border is the most inane and useless attempt at immigration control imaginable. All it does is make xenophobes "feel" better. It is an expensive and useless monument to the xenophobic, racist and anti-intellectual tide in the country. We are cutting programs to help homeless veterans who the right trot out for "cause" as to why we cannot help other communities yet crickets when we use that money to build a useless wall.
The wall would not work. It would devastate the environment. It would require violating individual property rights. It will saddle future generations for paying money for its upkeep.
The wall is as useless as the analogy about keeping front doors open so we can solve feeding the hungry. It gives a lovely Dopamine release to continue to fuel the fearful feelings of the right wing who are afraid of anyone who looks different than them or has an accent but does nothing to resolve any of the actual issues.
Facts I know are out of style these days but
Facts about undocumented immigrants---where they come from and why the Mexican border Wall won't

Katfrye,
You forgot to use the word "hate", though "xenophobe" and "racist" did make it in. All that would be required for your comments to be a complete liberal thought would be the words "bigot" and "homophobe". I'm glad you referenced facts, because here are a few:
Fact: Well over half of all illegal alien households receive some type of welfare payment
Fact: Illegal alien households receive an average of $5,692 in welfare payments each year, or 41% more than non-illegal households
Fact: While aliens (legal and illegal) comprise 9% of the US population, they account for 27% of the federal prison population
Fact: The 55,322 illegal aliens currently in federal prison have been arrested an average of 8.3 times on charges ranging from homicide and kidnapping to drugs, rape, and larceny.
Fact: Once eradicated diseases such as TB, Dengue Fever, and yes, Leprosy, are all on the rise in the US, all attributable to unvaccinated illegal aliens.
It does not make one a xenophobe or racist to point these things out. Ad hominem attacks are intellectually lazy. Then again, so is liberalism.
