Cranston Public Library will welcome Living Literature back to Central Library on Saturday, March 28, from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
In honor of Women’s History Month, Living Literature presents a readers theatre dramatization of the decades-long struggle for American women to achieve the right to vote.
This presentation, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, is based on the writings and speeches of Susan B. Anthony, Carrie Catt, Elizabeth Buffum Chace, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, and others who shared the journey of women’s struggle for equality. It is made possible in part by a gift from the League of Women Voters of Rhode Island Education Fund.
This event is free and open to the public.
Living Literature is a collective of Rhode Island-based artists and educators who create readers theatre-style presentations to dramatize non-dramatic writing. They have presented the works of more than 100 authors in schools, libraries and other venues throughout southeastern New England.
The Central Library is located at 140 Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston. To learn more, visit cranstonlibrary.org.
