Park View NJHS ends season with service

Posted

The Park View Middle School National Junior Honor Society held their induction ceremony at the end of April and has been full speed ahead ever since. The group has been involved in service project opportunities throughout the springtime.

In May, the group created “Birthday Bags,” which were delivered to Cranston’s Comprehensive Community Action Program (CCAP) and were involved in not just the assembling of the bags, but also with the shopping trip that took place to Walmart and Dollar Tree beforehand, in order to fully stock the bags. The “Birthday Bags” contained approximately $13 worth of items to help make someone’s birthday complete, including birthday cake mix, frosting, a birthday card, candles, party hats, sidewalk chalk, crayons, coloring books, sticker books, Play-Doh, a frisbee and birthday balloons.

At the end of May, the group took part in the “Boots on the Ground” initiative once again, helping to ready the display at Roger Williams Park for the Memorial Day weekend opening.

Ann Marie Torres, one of the honor society’s faculty advisors, was pleased with the group’s commitment to community service and the impact they have had on their local community.
