Tolman High School Principal Christopher Savastano was named High School Principal of the Year by the Rhode Island Association of Principals in part for, according to the Pawtucket Times, his “efforts in transforming the culture at Tolman High School and for his grace and humility, always willing to credit the work of others before himself.” Tolman is in Pawtucket, but Savastano grew up in and began his education career in Cranston. He taught math and computer programming in the city for 10 years at East, West, Park View and the Cranston Career and Technical Center. “I had a great 10 years in Cranston. I met some lifelong friends there,” he said. Pictured here is Savastano, fourth from the right, and his family when he was honored at a ceremony at Shriner’s last Wednesday. His sister Alyssa Hopkins, mother Annice, father Charles, wife Linda, son Carter, niece Kelly Brennan, and sister in law Joyce Brennan were on hand to show their support.
