Join the Providence Art Club Saturday, June 23 from 4-6pm for the Opening Receptions of two exciting exhibitions.
On view in the Maxwell Mays and Mary Castelnovo Galleries will be the Providence Art Club's National Open Juried Exhibition: America, Now. This exciting National Exhibition was juried by Dr. Elliot Bostwick Davis, Chair of the American Wing at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The work features just over 65 pieces selected from more than 800 applications. Objects in a wide range of media and styles reflecting themes and motifs popular among American artists working today will be on view. Thirteen artists will receive monetary awards totaling $5,000. These prizes will be given out at this Opening Reception.
On view alongside America, Now, in the Club's Dodge House Gallery will be Carol Strause FitzSimonds and Elena Obelenus: Connecting Stories. This show will feature intricately designed handmade books, prints, and ceramics by Art Club members Carol and Elena. Both artists have exhibited widely and are active instructors in the Art Club's printmaking studio.
These exhibitions will continue through July 20. The Galleries of the Providence Art Club are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are weekdays 12-4pm, weekends 2-4pm through the conclusion of these exhibitions.
