Cranston boxing champion Nick “Nice” DeLomba (13-2, 3 KOs) returns to both CES Boxing and Twin River Casino on Friday night as the 28-year-old puts his UBF All America Super Lightweight Title on the line in an eight-round main event against Louisiana’s Chris Singleton (18-5-2, 8 KOs).

The fight will be at 140 lbs. and DeLomba will enjoy a slight size advantage at 5’8” compared to Singleton’s 5’7”.

DeLomba returns to the venue where he made his professional debut with CES Boxing five years ago against Jimmy Smith, a fight that DeLomba won by unanimous decision.

“I remember his pro debut five years ago when he wanted to fight a six-round fight,” CES Boxing’s matchmaker Michael Parente said. “It was unorthodox, but he rose to the occasion. At that point, I knew he would get to where he is today, headlining major events at Twin River Casino.”

Over the last couple of years, DeLomba has tested the waters with other promotions.

“To have him back with CES Boxing means a lot,” Parente explained. “This is where he belongs. Some fighters have that drive you can't suppress. Nick is one of them.”

DeLomba too, is thrilled to be welcomed back by CES President and CEO Jimmy Burchfield Sr.

“I’m extremely excited to be the headliner in front of a wonderful crowd on a stacked card at beautiful Twin River Casino,” DeLomba said. “I want to thank Jimmy Burchfield and CES for giving me this wonderful opportunity to defend my title in my home state. It means the world to me to be able to put on a great show in front of my home crowd.”

Parente admires the work ethic of DeLomba, who reminds him of some of the old greats.

“Nick is a true throwback fighter, comes from a humble beginning, and simply works at his craft day in and day out,” Parente said.

DeLomba was originally set to square off against undefeated Irish super lightweight Ray Moylette, but Moylette pulled out a little more than a month before fight night due to a hand injury he got while training.

It was only a week later that Singleton agreed to take advantage of the opportunity, giving DeLomba ample time to tailor to the shift in challenger.

“If the opponent pulls out or gets injured, he simply moves on to the next fighter and gets prepared as best he can,” Parente explained. “The DeLomba camp has always been a pleasure to work with, from coach Vic (Fagnant) to Nick himself. They don't shy away from tough fights.”

The last time DeLomba fought at Twin River, he went up in weight to welterweight to fight New Haven’s Jimmy Williams in April of 2017 for the then vacant WBC USNBC title, a fight DeLomba lost by majority decision. DeLomba’s last two fights have been at 140 pounds where he has beaten Louis Cruz by unanimous decision for the then vacant UBF title, followed by Rashaan Abdul Blackburn, who DeLomba made his first UBF title defense against and defeated by knockout on July 28th of this year.

DeLomba’s clash is one of nine fights on an exciting card for CES Boxing that features a diverse mix of upcoming and high-profile fighters.
