Richard Lee Joseph ‘Bart’ Bartholomew, a U. S. Navy Veteran, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. He was 76 years of age. Bart was the beloved husband of Elaine M. (Richard) Bartholomew with whom he shared 57 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2023. Born in Providence, he was the first of four children born to the late Harold W. and Beatrice C. (Pigeon) Bartholomew.
Never one to stay idle, he could often be found woodworking whether it be a home renovation project or building furniture for his daughters. He was a devoted husband to Elaine and tended to the gardens and koi pond in the yard so that she could sit on the pink swing on the porch and enjoy them. The two of them loved camping and antiquing together and made an annual trip to Lancaster, PA to do just that.
He was the devoted father of Ginger L. Bartholomew and Wendy L. Zubrisky (husband, Ray); cherished ‘Papa’ of Stacia M. Mailloux, Kelly L. Carpenter, Kiera C. Carpenter, Jacob P. Sargent, Sarah E. Sargent, Kyle J. Mard and the great-grandfather of Archer P. Rynasko and Scarlett E. Pelkey. He was the brother of Janet C. Agin and the late Ralph D. Bartholomew and James A. Bartholomew.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Interment with full military honors will immediately follow in the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation to be held Friday from 4-7pm.
