Ralph Solmonese, 89, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Ralph was the beloved son of the late Ralph and Angela (D’Ambra) Solmonese. He was the brother of Dolores Clements and the late Joseph Solmonese. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Mary Beth DiSanto and her husband Carl, Peter Clements, Melissa Solmonese and her husband Kevin Lonergan, Joseph Solmonese and his husband Jedd Hastings and John Solmonese. He was the uncle of the late Jeffrey Clements. He also leaves three great-nieces and five great-great-nieces.
Ralph was a 1954 graduate of LaSalle Academy. He earned a B.A. degree from Providence College and an M.A. degree from the University of Rhode Island. Ralph was a Casework Supervisor for the State of Rhode Island Department of Human Services.
He enjoyed memberships in many organizations and was the past President of the Yankee Chapter of the National Association of Investment Clubs. Ralph has been a member of the University Society of Providence for almost 60 years and a longtime member of the Chopin Club.
Ralph has been dancing since his school days and was a founding member of the Swinging 88’s, a swing dance group in East Providence. He has been a member of the Knickerbocker Café dance group in Westerly for many years. With his savvy dancing skills, Ralph was often the life of the party. He owned classic antique cars and enjoyed traveling to car shows. Ralph enjoyed sports, especially Providence College and Boston Celtics Basketball. He enjoyed fine dining, travel and spending quality time with his many lifelong friends and family members.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 9:00am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Ln. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Kevin School, 39 Cathedral Rd. Warwick, RI 02889.
